About us

Stockwell Music Lessons is run and maintained by me, Chris. You can read more about me on my page in the teachers section.

The aim of Stockwell Music lessons is to provide an easy place for you to find a local music teacher. It can be difficult for both teachers to be visible and for potential clients to find them, so by bringing teachers together in the same place it's easier for you to find the teacher that's right for you, and for teachers to find students they can really help.

How to find a teacher

You can browse teachers in the teachers section. To arrange lessons just send me an email briefly saying what you're looking for (adult/child, what instrument, availability etc) and I'll put you in touch with whichever teacher(s) are best suited to help you. Alternatively, if there is a particular teacher you really like, just email and ask to be put directly in touch.

The minimum requirements for a teacher to appear on the site are that they are CRB checked and hold at least grade 8 in their main instrument, although at the moment all of us are also degree/conservatoire graduates and experienced teachers and performers.

Rates and fees

There's no charge to use this website. Teachers don't pay a fee to appear on it and I don't charge an agency fee to put teachers and students in touch.

All teachers work independently so each will have their own rates, cancellation terms and so on which are published on their page. Payment arrangements for your lessons are between you and the teacher and you should clarify these between you on starting lessons.

Free advice

Music lessons can be a confusing area if you're not a musician. If you have any general questions about learning music, email them to me and I will help you out. Advice costs nothing!

If you're a teacher and interested in appearing on the site, you need to be CRB checked, grade 8+ and work in or around the Stockwell/Brixton area. It's completely free. To find out more drop me an email.
